So I'm starting it up again...another blog for another adventure. For those of who who enjoyed my last blog while i was in Senegal - all 150 pages worth - are probably reacting with mixed feelings of joy, anticipation, and dread...but hey, this just means you can sit back and relax on a rainy day when you have nothing else to do. I hope some of you secretly enjoy living vicariously through what I feel extremely lucky to be doing these days....:)
Anyway, I have learned that packing a week in advance - which is the advice everyone gives you - ISN'T in fact, good advice. Here I am, with all of my suitcases neatly organized and ready to go....with nothing to wear. I've been painfully unraveling all of my carefully-rolled clothing and digging through my cosmetics to make it through until the 25th, which is when I leave. I'm really excited to be using my brand-new turquoise luggage, which is much more structured and durable than the soft, duffel-bags-on-wheels that Beka and I have been using for years. I feel prepared...and I love that feeling before I go on a trip.
It's again, really hard to conceptualize that I'm going to be getting on a plane and flying over thousands of miles/kilometers, to another country, another language, another system of socially-appropriate unspoken rules, etc. Although I know by now that I'm pretty adaptable....
After all, if I can go from Dakar, Senegal to Jefferson City, Missouri...I can handle anything:)
